OBJETIVES:
The general objective of the course is to provide participants with the capacity, or better said, the knowledge, skills and attitudes related to Occupational Risk Prevention within the Shipbuilding Sector in order to do perform their jobs in a healthy and safe manner. Upon completion of the training students will be able to:
• Understand and appreciate the basics of health and safety at work. Know the rules and responsibilities, rights and obligations of employers, managers and workers in prevention. Identify, assess and monitor overall risks in any industry and their prevention. Examine the risks specific to each task in the field of ship building and repairing as well as implementing the necessary preventive measures.
• To take preventive measures against fire and or explosions as in the case of work carried out in hazardous environments such as confined spaces, outdoor conditions, in heights, during cargo handling, etc. Gather the necessary information for the identification and handling of hazardous chemicals and the use of protective equipment required in each case. Distinguish the responsibilities of each party involved in the management of prevention: public agencies, form of prevention organization in the company, etc.
• How to proceed in case of accident according to the guidelines contained in the emergency plan and first aid techniques.
